A Level Two Judge knows the basics of competitive tournament policy and runs small in-store competitive tournaments on their own. L2s certify judge candidates for L1 in their home store or local area to ensure that the local judge community continues to flourish. At a large event, many L2s will be answering judge calls on the floor of competitive events.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An L2 should start looking towards L3 when they are comfortable with Competitive REL. For some, this will mean when they are regularly head judging in-store competitive events with two or more floor judges. For others, it will mean they have attended several large events and are familiar with the tasks expected of a floor judge of an event with teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Advancement\">Advancement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To be promoted to Level Two, a candidate must complete the following requirements. Requirements 1-3 may be completed in any order. This is followed by the interview (requirement 4), which is followed by the tests (requirement 5).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Write a review of another judge from an event where both judges worked. The review must contain detailed and actionable feedback.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under the supervision of an L2+, work at least two Competitive REL events<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive a recommendation review from an L2+, evaluating at minimum the following qualities and affirming that the candidate is ready for Level Two:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Technical performance at an event<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confidence in giving a ruling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Details of one policy related discussion from the event<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Player engagement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to perform a deck check<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pass an interview with an Level Three+ Judge including at a minimum the following evaluated items:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose one \u2014\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Understanding of the teams that may be used at a large competitive REL event<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understanding of the responsibilities of a head judge at a local competitive REL Event<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understanding of the philosophy differences between penalties (Warning, Game Loss, etc)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understanding of how to turn over a round<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to distinguish between Unsporting Conduct situations (USC-Major vs USC-Minor vs no penalty)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Results of reflections from their recommendation review<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understanding of how to certify a judge for L1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pass both the Level Two Rules exam and the Level Two Policy exam with scores of 80 or better (Exam cooldowns are 60 days per previous attempt)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Maintenance\">Maintenance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To maintain the Level Two certification, a judge must complete the following items each year<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose one \u2014\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pass the annual L2\/L3 rules and policy refresh exam<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pass three set update quizzes since the last maintenance period<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write questions that are accepted for three set update quizzes since the previous maintenance period<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose one \u2014\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Work at least two competitive events<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work at least six events<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write or receive a short review about their involvement in events or the judging community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain membership in Judge Foundry by being up-to-date on their membership dues<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Skills\">Skills<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a certified Level Two Judge, a judge demonstrates the following proficiencies, in addition to the proficiencies of a Level One Judge:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Knowledge\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Passed the Level Two rules exam, extensively covering comprehensive rules topics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Passed the Level Two policy exam, covering the JAR, IPG and MTR<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated the ability to discuss tournament policy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated understanding of the philosophical differences between penalties (Warning, Game Loss, etc)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated the ability to distinguish between negative situations with players that result in no penalty, USC-Minor, and USC-Major.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comp\u00e9tences en mati\u00e8re d'\u00e9v\u00e9nements\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Possessed experience judging in-store competitive events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated ability to explain the steps needed to turn over a round<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated understanding of handling unsporting conduct improvement<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Benefits\">Benefits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Certified Level Two Judges receive the following privileges as members of Judge Foundry<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use of title <em>Level Two Judge<\/em> ou <em>Judge Foundry Level Two<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to private Judge Foundry resources, forums, and chats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to participate in Judge Foundry projects restricted to L2+<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Right to vote in Judge Foundry leadership elections (like all JF-certified judges)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to Update Quizzes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to certify Level One Judges<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Changelog<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1\/25<\/strong>: Removed \u201cPass the annual L2\/L3 policy refresh exam.\u201d Change \u201cPass the annual L2\/L3 rules refresh
